Where there is love, there is wine.
DOT Sofia, in collaboration with Dragomir Winery Estate, presents Grand Reserve Mavrud, 2021 – a limited-edition wine from Bulgaria’s oldest indigenous grape variety, Mavrud.
Starting February 14, DOT Sofia introduces an exclusive release of 232 bottles, representing a single barrel of Mavrud aged under the Private Single Barrel program of Dragomir Winery Estate.
The collaboration between DOT Sofia and Dragomir continues the story of this classic grape variety – a symbol of Bulgarian winemaking – reinterpreted in a softer yet fully authentic expression. The wine is aged for two years in Bulgarian oak barrels, highlighting its terroir-driven character, followed by one year in French oak, which refines the tannins and adds an elegant, lingering finish.
Dragomir’s Private Single Barrel wines are created for a specific place or occasion in strictly limited editions of one barrel (225 liters), with an individual approach to the fermentation of carefully selected grapes. “This makes each vintage unique. Grand Reserve Mavrud, 2021 for DOT Sofia is the result of the craftsmanship of our oenologists – it reveals the full power of their patience,” share the team at Dragomir.
Invited to take part in this connoisseur initiative, artist Pravdoliub Ivanov created a typographic drawing bearing the inscription “Love is Liquid.” The phrase originates from his iconic work At the Level of the Eyes (1998), and the drawing has become an integral part of the label of this unique Mavrud.
“This wine is very special to us: Bulgarian grape varieties are the focus of KOMAT restaurant, and Pravdoliub Ivanov is a key artist in the DOT Sofia Art Collection,” shares the DOT Sofia team.
After three years of aging, Grand Reserve Mavrud, 2021 was bottled in 232 bottles of 750 ml, 1500 ml, and 3000 ml, and is now ready to be enjoyed. The wine will be available exclusively on the wine list of KOMAT restaurant starting February 14.
It would be our pleasure to present it to you!
